Soccer Recap: HOPE Academy Comes Up Short

HOPE Academy and Walnut Grove Christian squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but HOPE Academy had to settle for second. They came up short against the Christian Warriors, falling 4-1. HOPE Academy were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than four goals in the three matchups prior), but Walnut Grove Christian's defense proved too tough.

HOPE Academy's goal came courtesy of Samuel Uribe-Cervantes, which was the first he's scored this season.

With the loss, HOPE Academy broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 8-2-2. As for Walnut Grove Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3-1.

Walnut Grove Christian wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 2-2 victory against Lee Park Prep on the 18th. Hopefully HOPE Academy paid attention to the Christian Warriors' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Christian Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
