Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds vs. Mio-Au Sable Thunderbolts

The St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds will take on the Mio-Au Sable Thunderbolts in a tournament on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (St. Mary Cathedral 30, Mio-Au Sable 30) so any points scored will be well earned.

St. Mary Cathedral saw some tournament action on Friday. They claimed a resounding 51-15 win over Hillman. The Snowbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mio-Au Sable had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They took down the Wolverines 55-41.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Mary Cathedral and bumps their season record up to 21-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.5 points on average over those games. As for Mio-Au Sable, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

St. Mary Cathedral beat Mio-Au Sable 61-54 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will St. Mary Cathedral repeat their success, or does Mio-Au Sable have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
