Basketball Recap: Alakanuk Takes a Loss

Alakanuk was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 79-30 loss at the hands of the Chevak Comets. The Braves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-16.

Chevak's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ian Chayalkun, who posted 23 points. Another player making a difference was Laiton Pingayak, who scored 16 points and five steals.

Alakanuk's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Chevak, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Alakanuk does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chevak, they have already played their next matchup, a 69-58 defeat against Hooper Bay on the 6th.
