Baseball Recap: Moorpark Comes Up Short

Moorpark suffered their closest loss since February 21st on Saturday. They fell just short of the Camarillo Scorpions by a score of 5-3. The Musketeers have struggled against the Scorpions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Moorpark got a good showing from Ronan O'Connell, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Moorpark is 5-2 when O'Connell allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Moorpark saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Cerny, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Taylor Busch was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Moorpark now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Camarillo, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moorpark will welcome Oak Park at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Moorpark is facing Oak Park at the right time seeing as Oak Park is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Camarillo, they will host Simi Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Simi Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Camarillo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
