Basketball Recap: Staunton Comes Up Short

Staunton suffered their closest loss since December 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Stuarts Draft Cougars by a score of 38-35. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Cougars are ranked 117th).

Staunton has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Stuarts Draft, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Staunton has already played their next game, a 54-46 defeat against Wilson Memorial on the 6th. As for Stuarts Draft, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-43 victory against Buffalo Gap on the 7th.
