            Softball Recap: University Trojans vs. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals        
        
		
        
        
            With a playoff win on the line, University rose to the challenge  on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals  7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Trojans have posted  since March 27, 2024.
 Carson Cruz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.
 At the plate,  Sophia Weinberg was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and two  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Amela Hoang, who  went 2-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run.

The  win was  the third in a row for University, bringing their record up to 14-10. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, their loss  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 11-10.
As of now, neither University nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
