Recap: McLane Highlanders vs. Torres Toros
The McLane Highlanders can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 68-67 victory over Torres. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
McLane's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cedric Hughes led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Hughes hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Demetrius Simon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
McLane's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Torres, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
McLane will head out on the road to square off against Sunnyside at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Sunnyside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully McLane likes a good challenge. As for Torres, they will take on Corcoran at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Corcoran will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.
