Basketball Game Preview: Bellaire Big Reds vs. River Pilots

The Bellaire Big Reds and the River Pilots will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bellaire will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Bellaire is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Martins Ferry by a score of 72-60 on Monday.

Bellaire's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zara Harveth led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 13 boards. The game was Harveth's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rhyan O'Grady, who went 5 of 8 en route to 17 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, River's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 37-30 to Monroe Central. The matchup marked the Pilots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

River's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bellaire, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Bellaire came up short against River when the teams last played back in February, falling 49-39. Can Bellaire avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
