Volleyball Recap: Hoover Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Hoover entered their tilt with Coalinga on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Horned Toads.

Hoover was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.

Leading Hoover to victory were Madison Vang and Alejandra Espino. Vang had 12 aces and ten digs, while Espino had 20 assists and three aces. Those 20 assists gave Espino a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Hoover was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matches.

Hoover's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Coalinga, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoover will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Justin Garza at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Coalinga, they will face off against Lindsay at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
