Softball Game Preview: Northwood Chargers vs. Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers

The Northwood Chargers are taking a road trip to square off against the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwood hasn't scored more than a single run for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Things were looking good for Northwood after they put the first runs on the board two weeks ago, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Jordan-Matthews, falling 15-1.

Meanwhile, Bartlett Yancey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to Southeast Alamance. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Buccaneers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Savana Gibbs was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Northwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Bartlett Yancey, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northwood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bartlett Yancey struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Northwood took their victory against Bartlett Yancey when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
