Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Baylee Smith and Taryn Benson Lead Spanish Fork to Victory

There's no place like home for Spanish Fork, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Timpview Thunderbirds on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dons also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Spanish Fork had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-27, 25-21, 25-13, 15-13.

Leading Spanish Fork to victory were Taryn Benson and Baylee Smith. Benson had eight digs and two aces, while Smith had eight digs. The dominant performance also gave Benson a new career-high in assists (seven). Noelle Reid also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Spanish Fork is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Timpview, their loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.

Spanish Fork wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Maple Mountain on the 25th. As for Timpview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Springville on the 25th.
