Baseball Recap: West Ottawa Has No Trouble Against Holland Christian

While West Ottawa put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Holland Christian. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Maroons. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Quinn VanderKamp looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chase Gerlach was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Jake Wagner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

West Ottawa hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.

West Ottawa has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Holland Christian, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Ottawa will venture away from home to face off against Grand Haven at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holland Christian, they will head out to square off against Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
