Baseball Game Preview: Burkeville Mustangs vs. Chester Yellowjackets

Burkeville hasn't had much luck against Chester recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will take on the Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. Burkeville has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Burkeville is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 18-2 to Zavalla. On the bright side, the two- run performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring match to date.

Meanwhile, Chester got the win against Apple Springs on Thursday by a conclusive 8-1. Considering the Yellowjackets have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for Chester and bumps their season record up to 15-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Burkeville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Burkeville might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Chester when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
