West Texas took a 57-point loss the last time they faced off against Panhandle, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Comanches made off with a 50-49 victory over the Panthers. The win was just business as usual for the Comanches, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.

Cayde Winters was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 375 yards and seven scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry.

West Texas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Tj Riggs.

West Texas' victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Panhandle, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-2 record.

West Texas and Panhandle should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Comanches will square off against Sanford-Fritch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (522 vs. 1083). Meanwhile, Panhandle (ranked 453rd) will meet Sunray (ranked 927th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
