Volleyball Recap: Hays Snaps 13-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hays and South, and South kept the tradition alive. The Indians fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Hays started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-15, 25-17.

Brooke Bieker paced Hays' offense, picking up 15 kills. Bieker got some help from Sylvia Johnson and her 16 assists.

Hays' defeat ended a 13-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-7. As for South, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9.

Hays has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Liberal on the 2nd. As for South, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Derby on the 7th.
