Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Homestead

Homestead never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Fort Wayne North Side on Friday. They came out on top against the Fort Wayne North Side Legends by a score of 61-53. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Legends are ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Legends players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Woods, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 18 points and eight boards. Woods has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Max Goheen was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 16 points.

Homestead pushed their record up to 13-4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Fort Wayne North Side, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Homestead will head out on the road to face off against Fort Wayne Northrop at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Wayne North Side has already played their next game, a 79-57 defeat against Warsaw on the 25th.
