Basketball Game Preview: Liberal Redskins vs. Halstead Dragons

The Liberal Redskins will face off against the Halstead Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberal has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 13.

Last Tuesday, Liberal was beaten by Haven 66-31. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Wildcats are ranked 20th).

Despite the loss, Liberal saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Juan Diego posted six points. Alan Olvera also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Halstead came up short against Winfield on Tuesday and fell 70-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (61), the Dragons still had to take the loss.

Halstead has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Liberal, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
