Basketball Game Preview: Sutton Mustangs vs. Centennial Broncos

Having just played yesterday, the Sutton Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Centennial Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Sutton is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cross County just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 58-49 to the Cougars.

Centennial has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-53 heartbreaker at the hands of Oakland-Craig.

Sutton will need focus on slowing down Devin Slawnyk, one of several Centennial players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Slawnyk is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Winkelman, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Sutton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.

Sutton came up short against Centennial when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 42-38. Can Sutton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
