Softball Game Preview: Brevard Blue Devils vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

The Brevard Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Brevard didn't have quite enough to beat Hendersonville and fell 4-3.

Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain came up short against Robbinsville on Thursday, falling 12-2.

Riley Stokes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Smoky Mountain has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Brevard, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Smoky Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brevard has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. It's a different story for Smoky Mountain, though, as they've only averaged .326. Will they be able to contain Brevard's hitters?

Brevard took their win against Smoky Mountain in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 16-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
