While Eleva-Strum's win against Independence/Gilmanton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Indees 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Indees: they've now won four in a row.

Ruby Bartholomew spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mariah Steffenson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Josie Iverson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The win got Eleva-Strum back to even at 4-4. As for Independence/Gilmanton, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Eleva-Strum will take on rival Augusta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 2.9, the Beavers 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Independence/Gilmanton is set to face off against their familiar foe Melrose-Mindoro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
