Two dominant backs in Brock Jeannoutot and Jason Heimes are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bloomfield Bees will head out to take on the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Bloomfield got the win against Niobrara/Verdigre by a conclusive 52-26. With the Bees ahead 28-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Bloomfield can attribute much of their success to Keaten Gilsdorf, who rushed for 88 yards and one TD. Those 88 rushing yards gave Gilsdorf a new career-high.
Bloomfield didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Niobrara/Verdigre to a completion percentage of just 46.7%. The Bees have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.58 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.58 in their last three games.
Meanwhile, Hartington-Newcastle earned a 46-36 victory over Boyd County on Friday. The Wildcats pushed the score to 40-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Heimes and Ben Schmitz. Heimes had a great game and rushed for 89 yards and four scores. Meanwhile, Schmitz was balling out in the loss, rushing for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 31 yards and one TD.
Bloomfield's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.5 points on average over those games. As for Hartington-Newcastle, their record now sits at 5-2.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Bloomfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 273.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hartington-Newcastle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 225.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Bloomfield lost to Hartington-Newcastle on the road by a decisive 34-20 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Bees, Cole Heimes (who rushed for 107 yards and four scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
