Basketball Recap: Godby Skates Past Leon with Ease

Godby waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Leon Lions 55-15. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 69-31 back in December of 2024.

Godby got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Cornelius out in front who went 6 for 14 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and five blocks. That's the most blocks Cornelius has posted since back in December of 2023. Aniyah Lewis was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 11 steals and six rebounds.

Godby is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points per game. As for Leon, they dropped their record down to 8-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Godby will face off against Rickards at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rickards is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. As for Leon, they will challenge North Florida Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
