Softball Recap: Red Bluff Wins Going Away Against Lassen

Red Bluff got themselves on the board against Lassen on Saturday, but Lassen never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 6-0 victory. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Mattison Kwarta was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Kwarta wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Piper Tyler, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double.

Red Bluff now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Lassen, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Red Bluff will be playing in front of their home fans against Foothill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lassen, they are taking a road trip to square off against Central Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
