Baseball Game Preview: Mendota Aztecs vs. Lindsay Cardinals

The Mendota Aztecs will challenge the Lindsay Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mendota is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Orosi with a sharp 9-2 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Aztecs, who have now won three games in a row.

Meanwhile, Lindsay waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Golden Eagles. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by exactly 11 runs.

Bryan Martinez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Espinoza Alex was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lindsay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Mendota pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lindsay, the win got them back to even at 11-11-1.

Mendota took their victory against Lindsay in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 22-3 score. Will the Aztecs repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
