Volleyball Recap: Kirtland Hornets vs. West Geauga Wolverines

If Kirtland was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Edgewood on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets came up short against the West Geauga Wolverines on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2019.

While Kirtland was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-22.

Ellie Spencer paced Kirtland's offense, picking up 14 kills. Spencer got some help from Adalyn Kruger and her seven assists. Elise Hurd controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kirtland will venture away from home to face off against Lutheran West at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Geauga, they will head out to square off against Crestwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
