Basketball Recap: Marcos de Niza Takes a Loss

Marcos de Niza came up into this matchup off a tough 83-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Tempe Buffaloes by a score of 35-33 on Thursday. The Padres have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Marcos de Niza still got an impressive performance from Leila Rodriguez, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Tammie Wagner was another key player, putting up five points and seven rebounds.

Kiari Montanez-Woods had a dynamite game for Tempe, posting 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samarah Massicot, who had eight points.

Marcos de Niza's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Tempe, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Marcos de Niza wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 37-30 win against Moon Valley on the 6th. As for Tempe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-39 victory against Goldwater on the 9th.
