Softball Recap: Austintown-Fitch Beats Harding for Their Fifth Straight Win

Austintown-Fitch extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 15-2 in the process. Everything went their way against the Harding Raiders as they made off with a 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 12 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Kourtney Fedorek spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Kaliana Ray was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, five stolen bases, and two runs. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Folkwein, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Austintown-Fitch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in five consecutive matches.

As for Harding, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

On Harding's side, Azarriah Phillips was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ky'Ziya Minor also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Austintown-Fitch will venture away from home to face off against Howland at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harding, they will head out to challenge East at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
