Basketball Recap: David Reed IV's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lincoln Charter over Providence Day

Lincoln Charter lost against Providence Day back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lincoln Charter Eagles took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Day Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Chargers are ranked seventh).

Lincoln Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Reed IV, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 17 points. The game was Reed IV's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Krishtan Flowers was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points.

Lincoln Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Providence Day, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Lincoln Charter will take on Corvian Community at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln Charter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Providence Day, they will face off against Davidson Day at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Providence Day is facing Davidson Day at the right time seeing as Davidson Day is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
