Basketball Recap: Kaleb Platz and Ama Tening Sow Secure Win for Montour

Montour picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They strolled past the Luella Lions with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 20th in Pennsylvania, while the Lions are ranked 118th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Montour to victory were Ama Tening Sow and Kaleb Platz. Sow dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 rebounds, while Platz posted 20 points. Sow's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Straight, who earned ten points.

Montour's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Luella, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Montour wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-68 win against Dobyns-Bennett on the 30th. As for Luella, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mt. Zion at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th.
