Volleyball Recap: Rock Academy Starts Season with Win Against San Ysidro

Rock Academy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the San Ysidro Cougars by a score of 3-1. The win was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won 18 matches in a row dating back to last season.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 26-24, 19-25, 25-10.

Rock Academy was led to victory by Daniella Lara and Ocean Tice. Lara had 14 assists and five aces, while Tice had nine digs and six assists. That's the most aces Lara has posted since back in October of 2024.

They weren't the only good server: Rock Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Ysidro only served nine aces.

San Ysidro dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Academy will square off against Hilltop at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Ysidro, they will challenge Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
