Basketball Game Preview: O'Connell Buccaneers vs. East Chambers Buccaneers

The O'Connell Buccaneers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the East Chambers Buccaneers at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. O'Connell will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, O'Connell took their game with ease, bagging an 81-54 victory over Kelly Catholic. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Chambers). They wrapped up 2024 with an 85-71 win over Reeves. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Buccaneers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 289th in Texas, while the Raiders are ranked 85th in Louisiana).

East Chambers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for O'Connell, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

O'Connell lost to East Chambers on the road by a decisive 76-62 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. Can O'Connell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
