T Herrington was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Springfield Southeast's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-3 (and 3-16 when he doesn't).
Herrington wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was L Daberkow, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Lanphier's offense. They fell just short of Athens by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The Lions have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Lanphier's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Springfield Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 10-19.
Lanphier's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Springfield Southeast has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lanphier, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Springfield Southeast keep running through batters, or will the Lions buck the trend?
