Baseball Recap: Basha's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Basha was riding high fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Mountain View last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Basha Bears fell 8-5 to the Desert Ridge Jaguars on Friday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

David Richter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Grant Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Basha's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Desert Ridge, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basha will be taking part in a tournament against Cactus Shadows at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cactus Shadows will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Basha surely won't give up without a fight. As for Desert Ridge, they will take on O'Connor in a tournament on Saturday.
