Football Recap: Trinity Episcopal Takes Down Norfolk Academy in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Trinity Episcopal rose to the challenge on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs 55-7. The Titans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Trinity Episcopal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deacon Skogen led the charge by throwing for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one rushing score. Davion Brown was in the mix as well, providing the Titans with two scores.

Trinity Episcopal was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 172 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Brown, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from Deuce Mason.

Trinity Episcopal pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.4 points on average over those games. As for Norfolk Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

Looking ahead, Trinity Episcopal will face off against Benedictine on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Titans 11.8, the Cadets 8.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Norfolk Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
