Basketball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Jefferson couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a hard 51-33 fall against the Malta Mustangs on Friday. The Panthers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Jefferson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cameron Toney, who posted 11 points and seven boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Meredith Rieder, who earned a point and five rebounds.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Malta, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Malta has already played their next game (against Florence-Carlton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
