Basketball Recap: New Caney Comes Up Short

New Caney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Grand Oaks Grizzlies, falling 73-19. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-14.

Leading Grand Oaks to victory were Bree Riley and Hannah Reynolds. Riley went 11 of 20 on her way to 28 points along with six boards and three steals, while Reynolds went 6 for 11 en route to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Riley's evening made it 51 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was K'Mylii Nettles, who posted six points and five steals.

New Caney's defeat dropped their record down to 5-24. As for Grand Oaks, they pushed their record up to 27-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

New Caney will challenge Willis at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grand Oaks, they will welcome Conroe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Oaks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season.
