Volleyball Recap: Gilbert's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Gilbert won the last time they faced Midland Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Indians put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their five-match losing streak.

Gilbert never let Midland Valley on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.

Gabby Esposito paced Gilbert's offense, picking up 16 kills. Esposito got some help from Kaylie Spires and her 24 assists. Spires was also solid from the service line: she led the team with nine aces.

Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Midland Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gilbert is set to square off against their familiar foe Brookland-Cayce at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Midland Valley will take on rival Aiken at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
