Gilbert won the last time they faced Midland Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Indians put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their five-match losing streak.
Gilbert never let Midland Valley on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.
Gabby Esposito paced Gilbert's offense, picking up 16 kills. Esposito got some help from Kaylie Spires and her 24 assists. Spires was also solid from the service line: she led the team with nine aces.
Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Midland Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
