Softball Game Preview: Glendale Cardinals vs. Independence Patriots

For the second straight game, Glendale will face off against Independence. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m.

Glendale will face Independence after dropping another heartbreaker against Independence on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Cardinals fell 4-0 to the Patriots. The Cardinals were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the seven games prior), but the Patriots' pitchers proved too tough.

For Independence's part, not much got past Mariana Perez Vargas, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Glendale off the board.

At the plate, Independence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annabelle Mendez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

With the defeat, Glendale broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
