The Niles West Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Glenbrook South Titans at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Niles West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Niles West came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-4 to Mundelein.
Ava Kolbe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sarah Park, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Glenbrook South not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 10-1). They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Evanston. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Wildkits: they've now won nine in a row.
Addy Hurley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sophia Buckingham was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Hafeman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Glenbrook South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Glenbrook South's record now sits at 5-22. As for Niles West, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.
Niles West couldn't quite finish off Glenbrook South in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 and fell 3-1. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
