It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-9, which was the final score in Grace Prep's tilt against Northern Virginia HomeSchool on Tuesday. Grace Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.
Northern Virginia HomeSchool found their leader in underclassman Nici Gareau, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 11 assists, and 13 steals. Gareau has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last five times she's played. Maria Burkhalter was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with four steals.
Grace Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Northern Virginia HomeSchool, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.
Grace Prep will head out on the road to square off against Quantico at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northern Virginia HomeSchool, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fairfax HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. Fairfax HomeSchool is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
