Softball Game Preview: Bonanza Bengals vs. Valley Vikings

The Bonanza Bengals will challenge the Valley Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonanza is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.

Bonanza will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Western on Thursday. The Bengals blew past the Warriors 18-3. The Bengals haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Ayla Murphy was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Araceli Nason was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Bonanza always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. They are 7-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 16-0 to Spring Valley.

Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Bonanza, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Bonanza got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Valley by a conclusive 21-0 score. Will the Bengals repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
