Basketball Preview: Pine Raiders vs. Sumner Cowboys
Pine has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Sumner Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Monday, Pine came up short against the Tigers and fell 54-42. While losing is never fun, Pine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Tigers are ranked 44th).
Meanwhile, Sumner's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 61-53 to Amite. Sumner has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Pine's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-14. As for Sumner, they dropped their record down to 8-23 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything went Pine's way against the Cowboys in their previous matchup back in January as the Raiders made off with a 67-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pine since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
