Allen Park is a perfect 5-0 against South Lyon East since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Jaguars will head out to square off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Allen Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Allen Park is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Michigan's top teams: Woodhaven, who was ranked eighth at the time (Allen Park was ranked third). The Jaguars fell 6-3 to the Warriors on Wednesday. The match marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Mallory Hool made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one double. Mak Sitarski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, South Lyon East got themselves on the board against Kettering on Wednesday, but Kettering never followed suit. They didn't even let the Captains on the board, marking their second-straight 17-0 shutout. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Captains recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Chloe McPherson (2027) made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McPherson (2027) was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, South Lyon East got a massive performance out of Avery McPherson (2027), who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Paulina Ankawi (2025) also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Allen Park fell to 8-1. As for South Lyon East, their record now sits at 3-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Allen Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like South Lyon East struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
