Basketball Recap: Lake Nona Takes a Loss

Lake Nona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 55-45 to the University Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Cougars are ranked 109th).

University had a senior duo take command as Mo Kamara dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards and Hudson Maurer went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. Kamara is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Quais Hafid, who posted six points and four steals.

Lake Nona's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for University, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Lake Nona has already played their next match (against Timber Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. University has already played their next game, a 51-30 defeat against Apopka on the 22nd.
