Baseball Recap: Sale Creek Panthers vs. Tyner Academy Rams
Sale Creek put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Tyner Academy Rams with a sharp 20-2 win. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.
Gabriel Abbott looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Jackson McClendon and Maverick McCary did most of the damage at the plate: McClendon went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double, while McCary scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave McClendon a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Cunningham, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Sale Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tyner Academy only posted an OBP of .455.
