Basketball Recap: Grant Starts Season with Win Against Doyline

Grant gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They skirted past the Doyline Panthers 50-47. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 75-63 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Grant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aymaud Sykes led the charge by going 7-for-17 en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Raiden Searcy, who shot 71% from the field on his way to 10 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Doyline and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Grant won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pineville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Doyline, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Saline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
