Baseball Recap: Las Cruces Gets the Win

Las Cruces's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the IDEA Rio Vista College Preparatory Raptors by a score of 7-3.

Xander Parra made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bubba Urenda, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Adrian Whitman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Las Cruces' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for IDEA Rio Vista College Preparatory, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Las Cruces will welcome Hobbs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Las Cruces' pitchers better be ready for this one: Hobbs has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. IDEA Rio Vista College Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
