Softball Game Preview: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Garfield Bulldogs

The Mercer Island Islanders will challenge the Garfield Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mercer Island has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Garfield will come in with four straight wins.

Mercer Island lost 15-2 to Lindbergh on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Garfield got the win against Eastside Catholic on Friday by a conclusive 15-4. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by 11 runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Jordana King, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Woodling, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4.

King wasn't the only one making solid contact: Garfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Garfield's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Mercer Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
