Baseball Game Preview: Bartram Trail Bears vs. First Coast Buccaneers

The Bartram Trail Bears will challenge the First Coast Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

After dropping their season opener at home, First Coast is headed out to face a Bears team ready to give their home crowd a win. Bartram Trail fell 4-0 to Beachside on Tuesday.

Bartram Trail saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Dean, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, First Coast won against Parker on Tuesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Buccaneers' pitchers stepped up to hand Englewood a 15-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccaneers.

Coleman Edmonds made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Edmonds was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Kyler Long looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Cam Allen was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Journey Sutton, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

First Coast hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Englewood struck out seven times.

Bartram Trail got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2024 against First Coast by a conclusive 9-2 score. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buccaneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
