Softball Game Preview: Cony Rams vs. Waterville Panthers

The Cony Rams will face off against the Waterville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cony had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Edward Little put an end to it on Tuesday. The Rams came up short against the Red Eddies, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Waterville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to Caribou. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Panthers' highest-scoring game to date.

Waterville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danikah Harrison, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs. Those runs were Harrison's first of the season.

Cony moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Waterville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Cony took their win against Waterville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 23-6 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
